The term "Bootstrap" refers to the idiomatic expression "hold on to your own bootstraps", but it also refers to a specific type of process, one that feeds itself and is self-sustaining pivoting on its inner coherence.
The idea is that in order to comprehend any complex structure it is possible to avoid dividing it into simpler components, but it can be considered as a whole interconnected, where each single part is not more fundamental than the others.
Each part gains specificity in the dynamic relation with the other parts, also giving them meaning, so that the characteristics of each single part are determined by those of the other parts. Each part contributes to the creation of the others which in return generate each unit; so that the entire structure generates itself, that is, it stands upright holding on to its own "bootstraps".

Trying to apply this paradigm to music, we found in our hands an approach to the sound material that has its core in the relation between the parts more than in the parts themselves. An approach that finds its balance adding up unbalances, that places an accent on the functionality of the elements more than on their aesthetical value. We are aware that this is only a germ, a hint, an idea to be taken a little further in the exploration of the musical "possible".

Il termine "Bootstrap" si riferisce ad una frase idiomatica la cui traduzione è "reggersi ai tiranti dei propri stivali", ma fa riferimento anche ad una tipologia di processo, un processo che si autoalimenta e si sostiene da sè, facendo leva sulla propria coerenza interna.
Si prende spunto dall'idea che per comprendere una qualsiasi struttura complessa si può evitare di suddividerla in costituenti più semplici,ma la si può considerare come un tutto interconnesso, in cui nessuna parte è più fondamentale delle altre. Ogni parte acquista specificità nella relazione dinamica con le altre parti, alle quali a sua volta dà significato, cosicchè le caratteristiche di ogni singola parte sono determinate da quelle di tutte le altre. Ciascuna parte contribuisce alla creazione delle altre che a loro volta la generano.
Così l'intera struttura genera sè stessa, ovvero si tira su reggendosi, per così dire, ai "tiranti dei propri stivali".

Nel provare ad applicare questo paradigma ad un ambito musicale, ci siamo ritrovati fra le mani un approccio alla materia sonora che trova il suo epicentro nella relazione fra le parti più che nelle parti stesse, che cerca il suo equilibrio sommando degli squilibri, che pone l'accento sulla funzionalità degli elementi in gioco più che sul loro valore estetico.
Consapevoli del fatto che tutto questo è solo un germe, uno spunto, un'idea per andare un poco più avanti nell'esplorazione del "possibile" musicale.
